ESA is the only space agency in the world that covers the whole range of space activities. We're exploring our Solar System and unlocking the secrets of the Universe. We're monitoring space and protecting our planetary environment. We're making space accessible and developing the technologies for the future, and we're also using space to benefit citizens and meet future challenges on Earth.

In November 2019, European ministers in charge of space activities will gather at the Space19+ conference in Seville, Spain, to decide on ESA’s vision for the future of Europe in space. Space19+ will be an opportunity to direct Europe’s ‘next generation’ ambitions in space, and address the challenges facing not only the European space sector but also European society as a whole.

I like ESA, but there are two huge problems:
It's extremely underfunded and it's slow, inflexible and conservative.

NASA had a budget of over 18 billion euros in 2018.
ESA had 5.6 billion euros.

Europe invests far too little in space travel and research!

How much of it actually has even a hint of a chance of sufficient funding?

The Dragon capsule shown was developed by the private company SpaceX and largely funded by NASA. Soon a manned version will fly.
As far as I know, there are no such projects in Europe (neither manned nor larger private space companies except ArianeSpace). Why?

The shown Soyuz rocket is bought from Russia and in its original version flew for the first time in 1966.
The USA has with SpaceX an almost completely reusable rocket and with Blue Origin another prototype. China is already testing such rockets.
The ESA? First they argued for years that this will never work and if it does not in a profitable manner.
When SpaceX was successful, the test project Callisto was initiated in 2016. Its goal is to check with a very small rocket (13m, way smaller than grasshopper in 2012) whether reuse is possible.
On the basis of the results the concept of reuse will be evaluated.
The first hops should take place at the end of 2020. After evaluation, it may then be possible to start designing proper reusable rockets. What?

Instead, a great deal of money is invested in the development of Ariane 6, which may not be competitive even before the first launch.

Also the participation and enthusiasm of the population is not really successful in comparison to others (Youtube as example: 4.5M subs NASA, 2.5M subs SpaceX, 0.5M subs ESA).
You just have to compare the livestreams of ESA with those of SpaceX (or even the small company Rocket Lab).
They are much more modern and deal with mistakes directly and openly. ESA streams look like from the last decade and in case of problems they simply continue talking according to the script and deviating values and problems are ignored or even hidden.
An improvement in this area would probably not cost much and would make a huge difference in the public perception!

I hope that ESA will have more budget available in the future and people who have the courage to deviate from the already known ways and use a part of the money for new experimental ideas instead of rejecting them from the outset.

I don't know -- these hyper-paced, quick cut, no-narration commercials with the pathos and drama in the music: to me they're a turn off, not a turn on. Too bad, because I love what ISA is doing and really enjoy (and learn from) the more in-depth videos.
