6th Grade Math 12.3b, Writing an Equation Based on a Table, Table of Values

Показать описание
The relationship between two variables, where one variable depends on the other, can be represented in a table or by an equation. An equation expresses the dependent variable y, in terms of the independent variable x. This means we show y in terms of x, the value of y depends on the value of x, so we show y as it's related to x. We show several examples of equations in which y is written in terms of x. We look at tables and compare the values for x and y to find a pattern. Then, we write an equation that fits the table. We use higher order thinking skills to show that we can use a table to write an equation as "y in terms of x", OR as "x in terms of y".
