GSLC 2019 Annual Dinner

Ron Haney from the Roofers Local 195 was given the Unsung Hero Award. Sally Heater from CSEA/Voice received the Community Services Award. The Activist of the year award went to Maureen Avila-Raymond from the UAW. CWA Local 1152 was recognized with the Struggle of the award.

Keynote speaker was NY state Comptroller Tom DiNapoli. Emcee for the evening was City Court Judge James Cecile, who did another fine and witty job.

Members of the Onondaga County Legislature honored Dr. Dennis Nave, outgoing president of the GSLC with a surprise proclamation.

The surprises didn’t stop there. Dr. Nave was the recipient of the Bernie DeJoseph Legend award for his lifetime contributions to Labor. This award was presented by Mark Spadafore, who was just elected president of the Labor Council on Wednesday. The award was not on the program. We wanted to surprise Dennis! Members of his family also arrived from out-of-town for for an additional surprise!

A fine time was had by all.
