Rachmaninoff: How Fair This Spot (12 Romances, Op. 21 - No. 7), composed for voice and piano, arranged for voice, piano and violin (only audio).

Because Rachmaninoff's romances are way too underrated !

Sergei Rachmaninoff (1873-1943) composed this poetic piece in 1902 as part of a cycle of 12 romances, shortly before his marriage. The text is by Glafira Adol'fovna Galina, a Russian poet, writer and essayist (1873-1942) who may have been born in the same year as Rachmaninoff.

Violon : Renaud Capuçon
Soprano : Jeanne Gérard
Piano : Tanguy de Williencourt

You can hear the symphony 2 adagio in there. Maybe Rachmaninoff thought it was a waste to use those gorgeous ideas on such a short piece, and decided to give them another chance on a larger scale, 5 years later

Volodos' solo piano arrangement is one of my favorite things to play, it's just so serene and peaceful

Underrated??? Every single vocal student in Russia conservatories sing this song. Pianists who accompany them already tired of this song😅

I have never heard this lovely piece by Rachmaninoff! Thank you for including English lyrics also. I love this.

This is so superb. But still I prefer Medtner's song, they are way more original and structurally and formally more sophisticated. But still Rachmaninoff was legend.
