Why would Russia want to attack their own power plant. Shades of pipeline and the dam.

Sounds like "The Russians blew up their own pipeline" tale.

Funny how this is being the head story instead of the fact that Hunter left his dope bag in the west wing. Did anyone else see him high as a kite watching the fireworks display?

Remember the last time when the Russians were supposedly shelling themselves?

The literal "both sides" coverage used here is moronic. Very disappointed.

Im sorry they are at war yes?

What made anyone think a power plant is a "safe" place in a warzone?

Just ask... who does this benefit? Certainly not the Ukrainians who would have to stop all offensive efforts in the area, save civilian lives and re organize their efforts elsewhere. Plus, Putin and Russians in general have shown they care very little for the lives of Ukrainians or even their own men showing they will throw them with almost no training or arms/ support into the meat grinder needlessly to capture and hold strategically unimportant cities like Bakhmut, they destroyed the Kahkovka Dam to stop/slow the advance in Kherson, and even set up firing lines behind the zero lines to mow down their own retreating soldiers while. They are digging in with T54 and T55 tanks which reeks of desperation. Mining and detonating the ZNPP is just par for the course.

IAE said the Nuclear power station is safe with All the Russians Amo stored into it.

Meaning any nuclear power station can become a military base and still be safe to operate. And such a Man still keep his Job !

This might be naieve but why would they say:

"no visible indications of mines..."

Isn't that the point of a landmine, to be unseen?

The US and China should set up a joint neutral zone around the power plant making it off limits to Ukraine and Russia.

The reason I say the US and China is because they are both nuclear powers and each friendly to at least one side and can watch each other such that a neutral zone wouldn't be a benefit to one side or the other.
