Inwas going to retire my old snowblower for a newer bigger one, until I watched this. Looking at new snowblower’s and how cheaply made most of them were, I kept my old one and got the plow for my 2020 xm-r 650. Babying it, but so far so good. Thanks for the video.

Thanks soooo much for this! I live in a rural area in the Colorado mountains where I can get 500’ of snow. I’m 65 and 97 lbs and have a light 161 on snowblower. It works fine for the driveway but won’t do the berm. I end up shoveling a lot and it’s breaking my body. I was debating between a huge track driven snowblower or utv. After watching this, I’m going utv. I don’t think I could wrestle the 400 lb snowblower I was considering

They have snow blowers for ATVs. So you can switch from plow to blower. Worth the cost

All in all, this is probably the most solid advice on YouTube. I live in the Colorado foothills where we get about 150" anually with a 120' driveway that has a 9 space parking area. After watching this video I wound up going with a new Ariens Rapidtrak snowblower which was about the same $ as a used ATV with plow. While all of my neighbors have ATVs and I'd finish my driveway in 1/4 of the time if I had one, the snowblower is able to take care of my deck, pathways around my house, and gets around all of our vechicles/trailers way easier - all things the plow cant do and that I'd otherwise be shoveling. The real move it to have both ;-) but if you only have room for one the snowblower wins for me.

A little late to the party, but I have a very similar setup with a 300-yard gravel/dirt driveway and use an ATV/plow and 42" walk-behind blower. I use the atv/plow most of the time until my snowbanks become set then the snowblower comes out more the 2nd half of the winter. On the driveway, I often will use both and reangle my plow to push to the center and then only have to do one snowblower pass to the road and back. This only works well for modest or moderate amounts of snow and if we get 8 -12" or more I reverse the process and then snowblow first then use the ATV to clean up the driveway edges. Also, do my main trails but will only use the ATV for those and in a really heavy snowfall winter they will not be useable for the latter part of the winter. Enjoy

You should check out the ATV plow that Boss makes, it’s a V plow, called the V – XT. It’s a very beefy heavy duty plow. It also does not require a winch for anything. It’s all hydraulic operated the controls go right on the handlebars. It is pretty expensive anywhere from 3 to 5 grand. It’s also a 66 inch wide, I’m not sure of the height could be around 18 or 20 inches high, but it weighs 245 pounds. They also make a straight blade made from poly four and 5 feet wide I’d be curious what you think of those.

Another con for ATV plow, in heavy snow they can get high centered and stuck, and way too heavy to lift. Question, can a snow blower get stuck too? Debating my options.

I’ve been plowing snow for 35yrs & if you can’t plow at 10mph or more a plow isn’t worth it. A plow works great on side walks if you can go fast enough & if you have driveways close enough for the snow you push will be thrown on the driveways because the backs are too high.
I have a 48” plow & a blower beats me everytime. I have to back up a lot & I push the snow a quads length off the driveway to ramp it. Plus I have to get off to shovel next to the garages & sidewalks. Sometimes I have to shovel around vehicles. I started the same time as one neighbor that has the same size driveway & when I got off to shovel he was already done.
When there’s not much snow for the blower to blow I’ve seen neighbors push the snow with it then kick on the blower when there’s enough snow build up in front of it.
As much snow we get I want a riding mover with blower.

I started off pushing snow with a four wheeler, which worked very well, BUT, my snow piles up eventually and I run out of room unless I push it way out of the yard into the field so there is more room to push it after the next snow storm.
After doing that for several years, I decided I can just make a larger, wider plow for my truck, also using an electric winch to lift it. I made that plow almost 30 years ago and still use it if the snow is over 3 feet or so. But normally I use my snowblower to blow it out of the years so I don't have to deal with large snow banks that can drift my yard shut.
