Hepatitis Australia, in collaboration with national partners, hosted a World Hepatitis Day Roundtable and Parliamentary Reception at Australian Parliament House on 28 July. This was a unique opportunity to bring parliamentarians together in the new 47th parliament to raise awareness about the epidemics and what can be done to ensure Australia reaches our 2030 elimination goals.

This historic event brought together our key stakeholders including the people with lived experience, Australian Government Department of Health and national strategy partners such as the WHO Collaborating Centre on Viral Hepatitis at the Doherty Institute, Australian Injecting and Illicit Drug Users League (AIVL), Australian Society for HIV, Viral Hepatitis and Sexual Health Medicine (ASHM), National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (NACCHO), Australian Sex Workers Association (Scarlet Alliance), the Kirby Institute and the Burnet Institute.

We are excited to progress the 2030 elimination agenda in the new parliament and we look forward to building on existing relationships and new relationships in the 47th parliament to enable this work.
