We've gotten a lot of comments asking about the guitar! It's a Walsh Archēgos Semi-Hollow with Gemini Humbuckers.

Possibly the single most important lesson in guitar other than chords. Superb lesson.

Why has it taken so long for somebody to break this system down so quickly and easily? Thank you so much for this, man

sincerely have been looking for a pattern like this i can learn to really give myself at least one scaled mapping of the fretboard. really appreciate this video man

Thats a neat positioning! There's also the 2n 2n 3n 3n 2n 2n with every note having a one fret gap and the B and high E altered by a fret position for tuning reasons, both methods could be combined into one single diagonal super major pentatonic scale with the whole fretboard as a playable option.
Now figure out the same-key major scale positions around that note system, play the note system like major, and translate the scale shapes to the relative minor (eg. Playing a Bm chord in the key of D) and hang around the 1, 3, and 5 notes of the key for the most part and you can improv in any key.
Jazz players get more complicated than this but oh well 😂

I found this extremely helpful. And, in conjuction with other patterns, practice and time, your skill set improves.

A lot of people focus on the Pentatonic scales to move across the guitar, and through that they learn the shapes above and below, but many beginners fail to see the connection and just see numbers. Learning the Hexatonic scales not only teaches you how to travel vertically down the fretboard, it also helps you make connections with your guitar a lot more intuitively~
