I bought 50€ worth of groceries this week. Unfortunately the grocery store didn´t want to buy anything from me, so now I have a trade deficit with them. But my boss came up with a brilliant solution. He simply put 100% tariffs on all goods from the store. So on my next purchase I will have to pay 50€ to the store and another 50€ to my boss. This will teach the grocery store a lesson.
I´m really looking forward to receiving the wage increase of 10€ a month my boss promised me. "As soon as global economy booms", he said. Can´t wait for it.

I work in a Swiss industrial company and we will not be able to invest into a production in the USA. Our product is simply too complex and the investment would not add up. The environment in the USA is too volatile, it could be different in two weeks, who knows? So instead of running wild about the USA we will concentrate on the EU, Canada, Mexico, South America and Asia. We have the advantage that our product doesn't come from the USA which makes it more attractive to the EU customers.

🇨🇦 We were not at war with Japan, but declared war immediately following Pearl Harbor - a day before America itself. When US forces couldn't rescue American hostages in Iran, we did. We stood by the US in Korea, in Iraq, Afghanistan and landed, fed and housed stranded American air passengers in 2001. No charge. For all that we get insults and threats to our sovereignty. 80 years of post-WWII solidarity, ruined in 80 days. Tariffs will be forgotten. Betrayal will not.

Nobody feels secure negotiating with someone who is untrustworthy, unpredictable and, quite frankly, often appears to be pretty incoherent and unhinged.

Portugal doesn't just mull the possibility of cancelling the F35 order, it already cancelled.

I'm so happy that we in Europe aren't exposed to some 1, 200 chemicals in our lives that are normal for Americans.

I work in IT (UK). The way I see it is that UK/EU have been happy to use US tech because we were allies. With that no longer being the case, many companies and individuals now find themselves unwillingly invested in US tech and there isn't always a clear alternative.
Personally it wasn't hard for me to scrap Windows for Linux, move away from Gmail, OneDrive, LinkedIn, social media....nearly everything but this account for using on YouTube. Many others individuals are doing the same, although companies will take longer to react. So many have replaced their self-hosted systems with US cloud tech, it'll take a long time to migrate. There's an obvious and growing anti-US sentiment that I don't think the Trump administration banked on. You can't bully people into buying your stuff.
Coincidentally my car (Ford) was due for a trade-in. Normally I would have gone for another Ford, but just couldn't bring myself to do it. So I'll be picking up a shiny BMW next week. I'll avoid buying anything from the US like the plague.

Of all the explanations I‘ve heard so far, this one makes the most sense to me: Analysing the strategy of the current US government is like analysing the chess game of a pigeon. The pigeon will try to eat the pieces, knock them off the board, crap on the board and fly off.
Off course the pigeon has its own strategy, but you can‘t look at it with the tools you would use to analyse a normal game of chess.

The damage is done. The US had proven to be an unworthy friend.

It's not a trade war. It's a "special economic operation".

I´m totally disgusted by Trump and his government. His lies about the EU are sickening. And I hope the EU comes out of this as the strong union we were set up to be, without the USA.

Trump has broken the most important thing : TRUST

This is the biggest loss in this stupidity and we will all be poorer for it.

I'm on a Type Ashton binge right now, and im surprised that you don't have more subscribers. The quality of your vids is impressive. There's a lot of numbers and figures being thrown around, the little highlights and graphs are (according to me) being used to perfection to help emphasize and explain what they mean. Thank you for all the effort!

(Hi from the Netherlands (yes im saying that in all of my comments now))

PS: noticed the little "Werbung" text during the sponsor part of the video. For some reason i just really like it being in German

China just said they don't need the US. As a US citizen I feel the same. The world will be fine without the US.

And since the end of the record he did an other change and made exceptions on some products imported from China.
Even if countries will negotiate a trade deal, they will try to shift their trade to other countries for multiple reasons.
- Trump put tariffs on Canada because of the bad trade deal the US had with them. He did made the deal in his first term. So what he believes right now might change.
- Currently I wouldnt be so sure that this term ends after 4 years. He already dropped some statements for a longer term, even if the constitution is quite clear about it.
- The whole Trump presidency shows, what kind of people can get into power with the current system. Even if the democrated will get back into office and change the tone, this can happen again. It tooks a lot of time to build trust, but you can destroy it very fast.
