Community Work Party House Raising- The Amish “Frolic”

Показать описание
In Amish culture there is a tradition called the “frolic” where the families gather on.Saturdays and build homes and barns with volunteer labor and skills.

The men and boys do the construction and the ladies prepare yummy high calorie, nutritionally dense high carb food to feed everyone, many times placed outdoors since it is a building site with no kitchen to go into.

The Pennsylvania German term “frolic” is from German frohlich meaning joyful. Everyone is happy because when you contribute to another’s life you receive joy, and the recipient family is also joyful. In our more progressive community we still enjoy the traditional frolic and going home with greater joy.

You guys do very beautiful work. Do you sell to NY? I'd love to buy one of your homesteads. Beautiful work. God bless you.

Suddenly. You are building a frame house, not a log house. Do you prepare timber for construction yourself? Do you have a sawmill?
