FILM DESCRIPTION:
The explosive X-Men motion picture trilogy officially draws to a close with this release that finds Rush Hour director Brett Ratner stepping in for Bryan Singer to tell the tale of a newly discovered mutant "cure," and the polarizing effect it has on mutant/man relations. With the pressure on mutants to give up their powers and pledge alliance with the human race reaching a critical turning point, Professor Charles Xavier (Patrick Stewart) urges tolerance and understanding as his nemesis Magneto (Ian McKellen) gathers a powerful resistance in preparation for the ultimate war against humankind. Hugh Jackman, Halle Berry, Anna Paquin, and James Marsden return to reprise the roles they played in the previous two X-Men films, with Kelsey Grammer and Vinnie Jones joining the cast as Beast and Juggernaut respectively.

I like the little detail where Beast throws away the dart cartridge. You can tell he's disgusted by his actions but still did what was necessary to save everyone. Says a lot about his character.

I love what happened to Magneto because it’s a perfect display of poetic irony. He became exactly what he despised.

Magneto being turned human was actually one of the few good moments from this movie. You can see how lost and frail he is is without his powers. He's just an old man without any cause, any power, any friends. Most other mutants have worked their whole lives to try and be accepted, to try and live in society with what they have. They aren't defined by their powers, more by who they are as people. He is defined by his abilities, he always has been. And that comes from the Shaw only caring about him because of his powers. Losing his mother because he couldn't show his power. Being stuck in a concentration camp because he wasn't strong enough.

I don't mind that they retconned this movie in DOFP, but seeing Magneto reduced to this pathetic old man was excellent.

Wow. I remember as a kid I found Iceman vs Pyro a lot more epic. But all they do here is cross beams till John gets the upper hand, then Bobby ices up and probably does the only cool thing in the fight.
