New documentary explores actor Christopher Reeve's life and legacy

In 1978, Christopher Reeve made the world believe in superheroes with his portrayal of Superman in the eponymous film. The star died in 2004, nearly a decade after suffering a tragic accident that re-shaped his life and his family's. Now, the documentary "Super/Man" shows us just how heroic Reeve was in real life. Michelle Miller has more. "Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story" will be in theaters on Friday, October 11.

Will Reese is going to have a cameo in James Gunn’s upcoming Superman film next year. When asked about filming his scene, Will said he got emotional. It makes me so happy to see Christopher’s legacy continue in film and in medical research.

I worked at Pinewood when Superman 1 and 2 were being shot. I used to see him in his costume and saw him in harness doing flying sequences.

His accident still shocks me all these years later. By what fate could such a thing happen to that particular man? And yet what other man could have risen so majestically to such a catastrophe with such bravery and grace?

I don't have any words adequate that can express my admiration for that man. I am very pleased his family has the chance to come together to further his legacy and to experience the goodwill, respect, admiration and love so many out there feel for this wonderful man and of course for his marvellous wife.
