His work helping the poor and disenfranchised shows that you can be both a powerful leader and also compassionate. He truly embodies what it means to be a Saint and I can say he will be missed by both Catholics and non-Catholics like myself.

The world is shocked when the Pope dies, but when children starve and die in war, they say, "...yes, that's how it is. We can't do anything about it." Simply sad and shocking.

Just because Pope Francis advocated compassion for migrants doesn't mean that the targets of his message, the usual suspects [in North America and Europe], listened to him! Therefore, media claims about the impact of his immigration activism are a bit overblown. The same goes for his peace message. The wars in Ukraine and Gaza, for example, continue unabated. Governments rarely listen to the Pope and do as they please. JD Vance even told him to "mind his business" [I'm paraphrasing] when Pope Francis criticized the administration's mass deportation policy.

Note that the only time "Africa" comes up in the MSM is when they are discussing the "activism" of deceased or living celebrities as part of an effort to elevate them, "Western" or "American" aid, war, and disease. I suppose nothing else happens in Africa (?)🙂
