Woman Builds £1000 Tiny Earthen Home To Live Close To Nature In Welsh Woods

This weeks episode takes us to the wild woods of Wales, where a remarkable woman has chosen to live close to nature in a £1000 tiny earthen home, with no running water, electricity, or internet.

To many of us, this may seem like an extreme lifestyle choice, but for Emma, this way of life is all about building a closer relationship to nature while also creating a lifestyle where she is free of the pressures of the modern world. Her simple home is beautiful, cosy and warm. Water is collected from a spring fed stream which runs by her house, and at night, candles and a fire light her home.

Emma’s story is a wonderful reminder of just how little we actually need in life, and perhaps also a reminder of how much of ourselves that we need to sacrifice in order to obtain the things we do have. I hope you enjoy her story and the video tour of her very special, very simple home.

It's so sad that this lady would be seen as 'whacky' or 'crazy' when actually she is the most sane out of all of us! This is how humans survived for thousands of years. I truly admire and respect this lady - she is wonderful.

I love how she says thank you to everything he comments on, most people don’t do that and I think it is proof of how she really listens to him - such a soft spoken and considerate person.

The fact that pushing 4 million people have watched this video in a little over 18 months, must mean that I am one of many who are just fed up with the rat race, we now call everyday life. I so admire this woman who had the nerve to go out and follow her heart and find a better

This is the sanest lady in the whole entire world. We need more of her.

She's like this character in a story that the village kids were warned not to approach because she's crazy, and then she turns out to be absolutely real and wonderful. :D

She really got me when explaining that, to make her tea the "easy way" requires spending a lot of time at a job to pay for gas so which way is truly more time consuming in the end? She is very wise.

Imagine growing up having a grandmother like her.
Incredibly cool.

When I was suffering from depression, watching her video helped me. I long for the days when I can start living like her.

It’s really significant to me that there is an emphasis on the hut being functionally camouflaged so as not to detract from the real crowning glory; which is the surrounding natural environment itself. No pretentious “look at me” factor here. She doesn’t care what other people think, yet she is gracious and polite in receiving compliments. I think she is modest, honest and unafraid of trials. I admire her. Thank you for this video!

everyone’s commenting on how sweet and gentle Emma is (which i absolutely agree with) but can i just say that Bryce is literally my favourite interviewer of all time. In every single video I’ve watched, he’s also SO nice and polite, and he always finds very meaningful and genuine words to compliment the home owners and asks the best questions. Thank you for the work you do! 💗

“I don’t want people to mortgage away their lives, I want them to be free” never were there truer words spoken!

“Moonlight is important for us as well as sunlight.” I’d never thought about that before but I believe she’s right. We’re robbed of it in these streetlit towns and cities.

Literally everything she says makes sense to me. Too many people chase this blueprint of success and don't even question it. No wonder so many people are unhappy and stressed. It's a shame. We really don't need it all to have it all.

I had a really rough upbringing, but some relatives had a small hut in the desolate woods, without running water and outdoors toilet, and I managed to be there quite a lot. Was like medicine, probably saved my life. Found meaning where there was none at the time. This video resonated with me.

Emma is clear headed, true to her self and humble to the elements of nature. She trusts in nature and she is willing to let mother earth show her how to be a part of the eco system and not diveded from it. Emma shows us how you get to know yourself in the rain, sunshine, wind and in moon and starlight. She gives me hope and inspiration!

"I think we just want to be happy. And the earth wants us to be happy."

Such wise and true words, they brought me to tears.

I love that she said "there was a time when I was very poor" because even though she doesn't work a 9-5 job and probably has very little to no money, she is rich because she lives a life which is on her own terms and makes her happy and fulfilled.
