A Dying Daughter’s Final Days with Her Single Father

Lynnon has a rare genetic condition caused by a mutation in her CRELD1 gene, a disorder with a typical life expectancy of just 2 years. Lynnon is already 2 and a half, enduring constant pain and frequent hospital stays. Her devoted single father, Dillon, has made the heart-wrenching decision to sign a Do Not Resuscitate (DNR) order for his daughter. While he isn't ready to say goodbye, Dillon shares that he wants Lynnon to have peace and rest when the time comes.

I knew a single mom that lost her daughter to leukemia. She walked me through the day so vividly. They were at home just the 2 of them. She bathed her daughter early in the morning & put her in her favorite pajamas, a white frilly nightgown. They went downstairs & her daughter laid on her lap curled up. She was 6 when this happened. They spent the morning this way on the couch watching SpongeBob SquarePants & her daughters breathe slowed towards noon & she passed quietly in her moms arms. Her mom held her for an hour before calling anyone. This was 10 years ago & the peaceful, beautiful & heartbreaking way she told me this story will stick with me forever.
