Wow I remember playing astroneer before 1.0 and getting bytes was a pain. Even the auto farms involved needing power and a much more complex setup. Thanks for the easy and simple tutorial!

If you go to Novus to get fractal roses and build the farm next to it so it harvests and plants them, then you'll have a much better infinite byte farm.

I've been doing this method for a while. I have around 20, and it makes more than enough bytes for a playthrough. One thing I did however was placing beacons relatively near each one (but not within any proximity repeaters' range) in case of possible lag and therefore necessity to remove them. I've learned since that it causes no substantial lag at all but it's always good to be prepared.

put them on some of the byte plants deep below on atrox caves, i think those are the best byte plants

A solid technique for early game, but i like to use research chambers for my fruit-byte auto farm, gives significantly more per fruit, but this is a good starting point from which to set up such a contratption.

To the new players, in the center of atrox you get a 1000 bytes per "fruit"

I ended up making one with an extra large platform, an atmospheric condenser, and 3 research chambers later in the game which worked quite well

wish i saw this earlier because i painfully had to place at least 15 power extenders just to power a byte farm with 1 automated arm or something and a research chamber (sorry if I didn't say the correct names I can't really remember them) btw this will become very useful for me in later game

before the proximity repeater and other sensors was avaiable i made a crazy "research facility" with automatic arm that move rock samples to different reseach chambers xD i still have in my save
