My unpopular opinion about Hermes… 🙈

The Hermes game isn’t worth it in my opinion. I would rather go the pre-loved/resale route any day.
They are currently building an Hermes boutique at Scottsdale Fashion Square so I’ll finally have one near me. I just don’t think that spending a ton of money with no guarantee of getting what you actually want is worth it.
For people who love every single thing they buy at Hermes, that’s different. Those are the people who SHOULD be playing the Hermes game.
But for everyone else, there are a ton of reputable sources for giftable condition Hermes bags.

Both have pros and cons. I got a Kelly from Fashionphile in the exact size and color combination I wanted. Like new. I know 25 is a difficult size to get at the store. I didn’t have to wait or play a game. I paid twice the price of the boutique.
The pro of getting from the boutique is the lower price of the bag and getting a brand new one. Also the experience, if that matters to you.

The cons are: the journey can be long, some people wait a long time, 2 or 3 years and the pre spend ratio can be way more than 1:1. On top of it, you may not get offered the bag that you really want. The time and energy you spend going back and forth to the boutique can be a con, unless you really enjoy your pre spend items and the journey.
At the end of the day it’s what works best for you!

Imagine walking on the street with a $15k - $20k bag as woman, that you couldnt physically defend. If someone wanted that bag from you they could take it from you, that bag to you is 100% liability in public spaces (pickpockets, thieves, robbers)

i think many people are in the game because the bags they are offered by hermes are significantly cheaper brand new than the other markets. the other markets are much higher because they skip you having to wait for a bag, for one. also, accepting a bag you don’t like can be a wise investment, because these women are turning around and selling the bag for a few thousand more. there’s a boutique in dubai where people come straight in there after buying a bag they were offered by hermes and selling it for profit. they’re getting more than what they paid even before the boutique makes their cut. that’s pretty impressive. some people don’t realize they can do this, and they buy the bag they dislike out of fear of not getting offered a bag again if they reject one. so they walk around with a bag they don’t even like, when they could have sold it brand new for a nice profit.

if you ever get offered to purchase a bag directly by hermes at this new AZ location (without having to spend thousands on their other items before they make the offer to you first) think hard before turning it down. it’s gonna be cheaper (as new) than any other market, and you can flip it.

i completely agree, those bags are extremely extremely EXTREMELY overpriced and yea… you can buy a CAR and/or a DOWN PAYMENT on a HOUSE for the price of this shit
