Cyberdeck project: not quite a typewriter: a modified CRT turned personal PC

Ready for something different? I decided to completely modify an old portable CRT television set and turn it into a working PC. The unit is powered off the Raspberry Pi4 4gb and is entirely self contained. It can run off of either mains power or batteries, and has two USB3.0 passthroughs in the back. There is a front mount touchpad for the mouse, and a keyboard port. The keyboard is a 60% layout with arrow keys and Gateron silent brown switches.

This makes me wonder what CRT technology would have evolved into had LCD technology not replaced it. Like in some weird alternate timeline where the 90s continued in a different direction.

This is a really cool computer because it has very retro kind of vibe to it. I could see this being used by army out in the field, or by anyone who is on-the-go a lot. It also reminds of the Tandy Model 100 portable PC.

I'm pretty sure I had that exact TV when I was a kid. I remember staying up late to watch star trek voyager on school nights with my hand on the volume knob in hopes that I could keep my parents from hearing.
