His economy picking is so fluid that it also smoothed the frame rate of the video.

I loved the part when he went through the licks with us, bar by bar.

His economy picking is so economic that if I used the same technique in my finances I would have bought the keys to the lamborghini

He's doing this While my guitar gently weeps.

This is one of those things that becomes incredibly easy when you get good at it, but is extremely difficult to learn to do.

For some reason it KIND OF sounds faster than it looks.

Yeah!!!I LEARNT that in the me weeks and weeks of practice. But then in the 80s everybody practiced like a maniac. If you surf the net, you see the results, since YouTube is full of shredders galore....

Around the same time as this video, Frank was the cover story in Guitar Player magazine (June '88), and it featured a phone number you could call and hear a brief sample of his sweep picking. I was still playing pentatonic scales at around 4 mph then, so I was flabbergasted, to say the least.
32+ years later, I'm up to 7 mph, and I'm still impressed with this.

Old guys like me grew up with these video tapes, and it is the right time to thank Frank for his unique guitar work, being the one who really made us understand what modes really are, and how to properly use them in making music. "You should come to Paris more often". (private joke he may remember).

I am always amazed at the fact that there are people in this world that haven´t heard of him. He is hands down the inventor of this technique. But besides that, he is a complete musician and composer and such a tasty improvisor! He's an innovator just like EVH, Jimi, and Allan Holdsworth.
