That constant shifting of the map really highlights the chaos during the fall of the Western Roman Empire.
Excellent video! 👍

The barbarian incursions in the map makes it seem like the Roman Empire became a screensaver lol

Much awe to the Eastern Roman empire who survived the collapse

And to think, all those roads they built just made the barbarians rampages easier. Sort of how if the internet in our time is our undoing.

Thank you for changing the videos to use the whole screen/viewport instead of letterboxing the already smaller area. I wish a few other channels would do this.

I just love how the Huns slowly creep in before the invasion really began.

The two main reasons:

#1 - Scandinavia and the surrounding area is kind of hard to grow food in.

#2 - The Huns, Scythians, Saka, Roxolani, and the like pressing them from the East and South East and into Roman lands to the West and South. Basically, horse riding raiders put the final nail in the coffin.

This gotta be one of the best maps on the decline and fall of Rome I've ever seen.

The western empire fell into the stewardship of petty successor kingdoms much like Alexander’s empire split up. This had happened before, like the short lived Gallic empire that Aurelian brought back into the fold. Just like then, most of these barbarian takeovers were rebellious barbarian generals and local strongmen who declared independence from Rome.

all empires fall sooner or later. The fall of the Roman Empire had almost as much impact on history as its birth.

Still one of the strongest half a nation to ever exist. Literally took 3 nation sundering crisis and a hundred years to finally kill it

Something not talked about by historians is many Roman citizens welcomed a change in management.
A Greek which joined the Huns claimed life with the Huns was better than under Roman rule, something modern politicians should take note of.
Roman citizens couldn't train with weapons or own their own weapons and armour, they paid high taxes, had a large welfare state, and very little justice unless you were wealthy.

The huns waved from east to west like nothing

People don’t give the hunnic kingdoms their credit. The Saxon state that Charlemagne conquered was a direct descendant from atillas empire

Really nice editing, very realistic and detailed. Attention to details is just so insane.

and then the Hellens said “our homeland is lost” while the Germans said “we are the real Romans” while the Romans said “Dacia looks like a nice place to settle”.
