We use cordless bandsaws for everything metal here in the us, from strut and rod to conduit and even large feeder conductors sometimes

In my experience this tool always left it with a burr which prevented nuts threading on. I always found it easier to use a chop saw to cut multiple lengths at once and an angle grinder for deburring.

Grinder with thin metal cutting disk. The proof of the pudding in ALL cases is how quickly and easily a nut threads on afterwards. My experience to date? Give me a thin (2mm) steel cutting disk on a grinder every time as you can bevel the end with the same tool very quickly and easily.

When hanging trapezes in the air, I take a circular saw to the rods, then I use my makeshift rod-coupling threader to clean up the burrs. You cut a rod coupling for the size of rod you’re running, make two perpendicular cuts just a cunthair long down the middle to make a cross, and attach it to a 4” piece of rod. Boom, deburring drill attachment.

Cordless bandsaw for the win. Full size for cutting whole bundles.

I tape 4 lengths of rod together and use a metal TCT cut off saw. Gives a clean cut and is fast as you are cutting 4 at a time. 4 seems to be the magic number though if you do more the centre rods can spin out

I can produce 100 rods, cut in a taped bundle on a chop saw and filed faster than you can do 1 x 100 with that. But don’t get me wrong this is better than a hacksaw for runs less than say 20.

If you need to carry a hacksaw for work is for a convenience , obviously
That’s why trucks keep getting bigger . If each tool is going to weigh like this one . I will end up exhausted just carrying tools, at the end of the day . I keep my hacksaw thanks ! Work smart not hard . !

Dunno about you lot but when i work on site if i'm doing lots of rod the main contractor is expected to provide tools if he wants the job speeding up. Me as a simple work - nah i don't buy this stuff.

Or you could just use the Makita tool made for that

YES....BUT WHAT IS COST OF HACK SAW AND A QUICK FILE (NEEDBE?) VS A CUTTER? $4 BUCKS VS $89.95!?

Think I will stick to my evolution saw, faster than both of these
