Now THAT's different! - Spigen Quartz Hybrid iPhone 11 Review
Показать описание
The average case is usually TPU and PC. The premium case is usually TPU, TPE and PC.
BUT did you know there’s a case that’s TPU and Glass? It’s called the Spigen Quartz Hybrid. The last time I used a case with glass integrated with TPU, was the Amzer Krusta. On the iPhone 6.
The glass is the standout feature of this case BUT I like it not for the reasons you might think. I’ll touch on that later because the question you probably have right now is:
Will the glass crack when you drop it? It does. Eventually.
Think you need a Spigen Quartz Hybrid?
At MREH, Monty and I are crushing the content creation cycle. Everybody’s hanging out in quarantine right now so our plan is to distract you for a few minutes each day. Well, Monty is. I’m assuming I get lost as background noise as all you staring deeply into Monty’s eyes.
The Quartz Hybrid is a slim case. It’s so slim that putting a screen protector on the makes the iPhone too thick for the edges of the case. The Quartz Hybrid fits the iPhone like your typical clear case with the parts of the iPhone looking wet. The entire case has a series of micro dots which is generally used to prevent rainbowing from happening and the dots even occur on the inside of the glass.
In general, the edges on the case are little too pliable for my liking.
The case won’t slide around easily on the back as the glass back is raised. On the front, if there was no screen protector, the case would keep it in place.
From a wear and tear perspective, the glass back is going to be a bit more resistant to scratches but since it’s glass, may break after a while. If you’ve been with the channel long enough, you’ll know that I treat glass as a consumable and this case is no different. It’s glass. It’s probably going to crack.
Fingerprinting doesn’t seem as prevalent as normal clear cases are BUT I don’t think there is much of an oleophobic coating as the waterdrops on the back of the case don’t pop like it would on a screen protector. Keys and coins won’t be an issue with the case and because Monty’s being thorough, the glass has a hardness around 6.
The TPU of the case helps with the handling of the device despite the back being quite slick. I personally think it’s slicker than the usually polycarbonate.
The last thing of note for the Quart Hybrid is that the case is made in China. The majority of Spigen’s cases are made in Korea so that’s an odd outlier. For example, heres’ the Ultra Hybrid which is basically the Quartz hybrid with a clear PC back instead of glass and that case is made in South Korea.
I had no issues accessing my iPhone in the case. It’s such a thin case that nothing gets in the way. The feature that stands out for me is that the glass feels a little cooler than your average PC case. Specifically, I think itt transfers heat a little better than PC so it makes the iPhone feel different.
So when it comes to protection, Quartz Hybrid provides ultimate everyday protection. Ultimate. Super thin, made with glass, ultimate protection. The case apparently is also Mil-grade certified. And the case also supports reverse charging which is a highly touted, unknown feature of the iPhone 11’s.
That’s what Spigen says. The reality is that none of that stuff is really true.
