Then, the storm clouds of a family tragedy rolled in. They changed her life forever. Both her husband’s parents died within days of each other at separate nursing homes. They weren’t allowed to see them or hold a funeral because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Janice blames the tragedy primarily on Andrew Cuomo’s nursing home policies. He allowed thousands of infected patients to be brought in.
She lost all respect for the governor. The truth about how many patients died because of his policies is unknown. He even allegedly tried to silence Janice’s attempts to bring the story out by saying she was only reliable for the weather. That didn’t stop her from using her platform to get the story out. His response and sexual abuse allegations only encouraged her efforts. She was glad when Andrew finally resigned.
Janice is also fighting a personal battle. She has a condition that is common but not well-known.
Multiple sclerosis or MS causes lesions on her brain and spine. It’s as unpredictable as the weather, leaving her incapacitated one day and feeling fine the next. Changes to her diet and exercise routine help lessen her symptoms. She still comes to work, but her priorities have shifted to taking care of her family. No matter what, she’s not letting anything stop her from living the life she wants. She’s worked too hard to get where she is.
