Personally, I feel that most of the controversy of this spell will come in the fact that it's only a premium option. The problem with spellements are how there's a lack of ways to obtain them for free. Even if there are options they are generally located specifically in higher level worlds or Deckathalon which has it's own set of issues.
1.) With Deckathalon, it's a chance to obtain the spellements at high level floors, and you only get 3 attempts per day, meaning you'll get a total of 21 attempts during the Deckathalon week. If you are just starting the event, most of that time will be spent grinding for the reagents in order to craft decks that improve your chances of beating the towers. Thus it's not an efficient method but more like a side reward.
2.) Having most spellements located in mainly higher level worlds presents the issue of even if there were FTP options most wont have access to it.
The issue isn't that people are buying them but more along the lines of the company forcing the idea that the only way to obtain them effectively is through paying. There's a reason as to why the Druids pack is very popular, while the gear is very unique on its own the appeal is how the spellements on the pack come quite frequently, but that doesn't force the players to only buy the pack since all bosses located in the Catacombs drop the spellement in a decent quantity.

The devs say the minion has 300 health so just...kill it. I disagree with this mentality, you have to sacrifice a turn to do that and at the same time expose yourself to a hit. This is why the x (1-3) pip minion was not seen as OP

KI being greedy and releasing obviously pay2win content, I'm shocked. Also look at the fire elf spellement upgrade vs this troll one. The difference in power level between the two is INSANE. Fire elf gets like 30 extra damage vs a 2 pip minion hmmm I wonder which one is better?

All spellements need a reasonable way to be farmed, end of story. Spellements were a great idea to start, but in the last 2 packs have been gatekept behind an absurdly high paywall.

I honestly have no problem with it, if it was ACTUALLY FARMABLE.

I do like the new troll spell but it is very exploitable at low level and as mentioned can create far to much pressure on your opponent just for 2 pip. I'd recommend it be changed to work like a minion sacrifice spell or like a beastmoon spell and it will only summon a minion if you hit and kill your opponent minion at least than there is a level of preparation and or requirement that still makes the utility worth upgrading but not make the spell complete pay 2 win garbage.

I personally want spellements to NOT be in packs, and to be a little bit weaker but drop from boss's that are farmable for the level the spells are at. So a level 10 farming like Kraken in triton and getting low drops for spellements that way spellements are not locked behind being max level or near max for low-rank spells. Honestly if kings isle were looking for new players or wanting to keep old players they would have made spellements properly farmable for everyone instead of being locked behind a paywall. This could have been a really good feature for people to get the most out of this game, but instead they are hoping that During a pandemic and what the world is going through right now people have millions of dollars to drop on loot drops just to enhance a spell...

Is it bad that I want this game to die, just so that people in the community can remake this game and make it better. Like toon town rewritten.

We all want KI to make money and wiz to grow in popularity, but this isn’t the way. I think packs should be a way to get gears quicker for people who don’t want to grind as much and would rather spend money to speed up the process. Farming for gear should always be the main wait to get gear. Every pack gear and spells should be farmable unless it’s cosmetics . Lots of people will still open packs and less people will quit the game which means they will make more money from people buying membership.IMO

I feel like elucidate is going to come back by this point lol. Maybe not in terms of literally removing two pips, but moreso in what we are seeing with this troll card.

In one of Awesome's videos, he's described how elucidate made things unpredictable in PVP and broke the whole system as a result. While this troll spell does not bring unpredictability, it brings the cost of summoning a minion to nothing, and breaks the whole system by putting wizards at a disadvantage by having to waste an extra turn to kill the minion.

We'll have to see where this leads. This is a bit more complicated than it was with elucidate, especially since the developers are gaining a monetary profit from this pack.

I just came from the stream and I just want to say, that no one knows what it feels like to out-play a jade on a balance because it's impossible, except that's what I love to come and watch you do.

You could argue that this spellement is not great at 100+ but go back down to lvl 40-60 where there aren't shadow spells and less overall utility. The troll gets 4 pip value being a shield breaker, trap setter and a waste of a turn for the opponent. Mid level PvP will be ruined with this spellement

I'm not worried by the chance that many people might get the spellement. It most likely won't be dropped by lore and put on some random boss like mimic that with a well coordinated team still take a little while to complete. I just feel like its just gonna be a pay to win kind of thing.
