It's the clutch basket spinning pull the clutch in and if there is a difference in sound it's probably going to either need new plates and bearings nothing to crazy my bike makes the same noise but if you look up any video of a 90-05 they have a noisy clutch and it sounds so much louder because the 250s are not made to idle low like smaller 2 strokes they eat way more gas and need alot more air so try tuning the carb before you go chasing a noise because I promise you'll regret it

Did you find out what caused the noise my 08 is doing the same. Changed cM tensioner and chain
