If I understand correctly, deja vu is the brain accidentally setting off the “familiar thing” neural pathways instead of the “novel thing” neural pathways while you are experiencing something. Mostly, it’s just a random glitch, but if it’s happening over and over it may be a sign of an underlying problem (i.e. it’s another symptom of whatever will cause your future stroke/seizures/etc, NOT the cause).

It is spooky when it occurs though, ngl. Had it happen when my friend was telling me about what the daily horoscope was for her, and I had the sudden feeling I was *reliving that moment.* Like I had dreamed that moment the night before in Technicolor or something. Absolutely freaky.
