The joy of being an acupuncturist! Needling acupuncture points all day long is fun! ☺️

💚 LV 3 is a rock star acupuncture point! And combined with Li 4, it forms the 4 Gates and open the flow of Qi & Blood.

💚 It is great to relieve tension, relax the body and mind, support depression, relieve temporal headache, PMS & dizziness.

💔 Needling the palm can be sensitive for patients, because of the amount of nerve endings in that area.

But these 3 acupuncture points are quite effective to calm the mind.

💔 PC 7 is a Ghost point to support a broken heart.

💔 HT 8 is fantastic to clear heat for hysteria.

💔 PC 8 is also a Ghost point for anxiety with paranoia and uncontrollable laughter.

✅ Needling GB 21 safely 👊🏽
This is a trigger point and can be stimulated to release muscle tension in the trapezius.

✅ The lung Apex is located below, so I was taught to needle oblique upward towards the back.

✅ GB 21 is also a great acupuncture point to promote labour for difficult childbirth & placenta retention. It is contraindicated during pregnancy until labour.

LUNG 7 is such a unique point because it can be needles oblique in 2 different directions, depending on the objective!

📍Needling it towards the thumb (with the flow of the Lung channel) is great to tonify Lung Qi and Wei Qi (defensive Qi).

📍Needling it towards the elbow (against the channel flow) is great to expel excess pathogens.

📍When a patient comes in with environmental allergies, I like to tonify LU 7 on one side and clear the pathogens on the opposite side. Dual actions that rock 👊🏽

🍃 Ear Acupuncture for addiction

Over the years, I have used the NADA protocol to help patients with smoking cessation, many times with great success!

And especially when I add body acupuncture points following the patient TCM pattern of diagnosis, then it’s like magic. 🦄

🍃 The NADA protocol consists of 5 ear points: Ear Shen Men, Sympathetic, Lv, Kd & Lu, usually every second day for about 6 sessions.
🍃 For food addiction, add the ear Hunger point and ear point Zero.

REN 22 (CV 22) scares my students because of its location. But it’s simple to needle transverse behind the sternum along its back edge, by bending the needle as it is inserted. 🙏

REN 22 is a fantastic point to voice our truth and release our repressed emotions. It’s also used for voice loss, asthma, cough and persistent hiccups!

Hi Clara, when you needle PC8 for example for mouth ulcer, would you also combine any other points like CV24? would CV24 be used for local pain relief of the facial region including inside mouth? And also how deep do you needle the point? I’m practicing on myself and I think I might have hit a nerve as I get shooting pain distally along ulnar side of index finger and radial side of 3rd finger. Is that where I have to stop pushing needle in when I feel that electricity like sensations? I’m using a 30mm needle with 0.5cun perpendicular insertion. Thanks for your help.
