Tan’s mother ruined her son’s future because she cannot be strong for herself. It’s not cultural. It’s individual. I am Asian, and I would never allow my child to take a fall for me. I’d rather give up my life, my limbs or organs for my children before I’d see my children’s future or wellbeing sacrificed.

Well, Charlie Tan was sentenced to 20 yrs on weapons charges. He admitted to killing his father.
On Feb. 4, 2015 Tan wrote that his mother indicated the “next time” his father would kill her.

“I knew that in killing my father I would be throwing away my future, but I wasn’t thinking of that after the February 4 call"

"They [attorneys] advised me not to admit that I shot my father. They were the legal experts, and so I accepted that strategy, even though I knew what I had done was wrong.”

The mother is selfish and destroyed this young man's life. There are things you don't involve kids in, and this is one of them. She had the police and the domestic hotline for this.

If the mom did it, then she clearly doesn’t give a f*** about her child. Ruined his life instead of taking the blame for her actions and making sure her child can live his life. The father was likely abusive and instead of leaving, she killled the guy and got her son involved.

My final comment on the Tan family murder is that Charley did not kill his father. A distraught abused women needs help especially after suffering years of violent torture. In the Asian culture the children are raised to honor the parents. It seems that Charlie took that tenet seriously since his mother was being abused. He probably thought he could handle being locked up but she had already been emotionally locked up just from living w/her husband.
