Alum is antiseptic. For the same reason, it can be used as an aftershave as well. Besides this, it benefits magically in the following ways:

.To rectify Vastu dosha, put alum in a glass jar and place it at the entry of your house.
Alum represents Mercury, to amplify focus in studies, place it at the study table of kids.
To bring process in work, wrap Alum in a red cloth and hang it at the main door of your workplace.
