My first experience with Bates boots was 3 years ago, when I bought a pair of Enforcer Ultralits and these are still my favourites! Amazingly comfortable, good ventillation, I put several hundreds of kilometres in them while hiking and they hold up great! These look very well built too, I think I will give these a try. You are absolutely right about the advantages of mid-boots.

Thanks for the review. I wore Merrell Yokatas for most of the last decade, never liking the looks of them, but loving everything else. Just a few weeks ago, I was going to order a new pair, but only the worst (of all the bad) color combos was available in my size, so I went down the shoe research rabbit hole and ended up with these (in olive green), and they are just as comfortable, and perhaps even more mobile, and all without the typical hiking shoe gaudiness.

Bates are old school US military shoes. The SEALS BUDS program used to issue Bates. I wonder if this boot would be good for hiking or ruck running?

I always had some problems with my size in different tactical boots brands. My size can be from 7.5 to 8.5 (US)
Its very Hard to me order the correct size.
The size 7.5 is for the boots were the size run to large. The 8 and 8.5 are for the boots were the size run just a little bit small or very small.
My normal tenni shoe size is 8.5, wich size can recommend for me?

Great review points. Considerations when evaluating any boot is to evaluate the feeling of walking not only on the ground but on solid ground in different environments. You do mention that the boot is a good running shoe and will continue to use. A perfect review is not but is a great review, nevertheless. I would consider buying them, thanks.
