My favorite car when I was a kid, and still my favorite car at 44. Fantastic, hand built, big and fast British bruiser. The first time I saw one in the metal, it was at a Classic car show, and there was one going up for auction. A 580X in Rolls Royce Royal Blue, with Magnolia leather interior, and above all a 7 litre engine conversion! Unfortunately, it was all indoors so I never got the chance to hear it run. I would have been around 13 or 14 at the time, and although I'd seen plenty in Magazines and the various books on supercars I had at home, nothing could prepare me for seeing the real thing. I must have wondered around it, gawping for at least half an hour, and kept coming back for more. The auction wasn't until the next day, so I never knew what it sold for, but this was around 1991/92, and it was only about 3 years old at the time, so it would have been a pretty healthy figure. But a comparative bargain, when you consider what these amazing machines fetch now!

Mid 80s 580 Oscar India Vantage. All Aston V8s are difficult to start when warm as the fuel in the twin choke carbs evaporates.

1980s Aston Martins are among the most beautiful Ford Mustangs ever made:)

What really gave it away? The 85 VTG license plate?

From 3 of 4 sides this car is an absolute beauty. Don´t know what they thought, when they designed the rear.

Can't be 74 with the back, 79 OI onwards, Having said that the plates wld work, but the body is all wrong...? Have a 83 OI V myself; odd exhausts too, not standard or AM BB, Ronnals, lack over riders etc.

Hardly any sound at all once it actually started!

Sounds like it needs a tune-up from the way it didn't want to start. Also the front rims were dirty. How can someone neglect such a beautiful car ?

That start up would be really embarrassing

Why did Aston Martin delete the grill? Looks better with it.
