Indian Air Force's Game-Changing Airbus C-295 Unveiled |
In a historic development, India is poised to manufacture its own aircraft for the very first time through a groundbreaking partnership between Airbus and Tata Advanced Systems Limited. Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari, traveled to Spain to receive the first C-295 transport plane. The venture is the result of a Rs 21,000-crore deal between Airbus Defence and Space S.A., Spain, and TASL.
While the first 16 aircraft will be delivered directly from Airbus' assembly line in Seville, Spain, the remaining 40 will be manufactured in Vadodara, Gujarat, under the Airbus-TASL joint venture. This marks the first time Airbus is establishing an entire production system outside Spain.

The Future of Defence |
The induction ceremony for the inaugural Indian-made aircraft is set to be held later this month at the Hindan Air Force Station. The C-295MW aircraft boasts a capacity of 5-10 tonnes and cutting-edge technology. They are set to replace the aging Avro-748 planes in the Indian Air Force's fleet.

A New Era for Indian Air Force |
The aircraft come equipped with an indigenous Electronic Warfare Suite. They are also designed for rapid troop and cargo deployment through rear ramp doors. The project will invigorate India's aerospace ecosystem, with numerous small and medium-sized enterprises across the country participating in manufacturing aircraft components.
This aligns with the 'Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan' by reducing import dependence and potentially increasing exports.
