IRQ passthrough is not exactly "cutting-edge" on the hardware side, AIUI. AMD's AVIC has supported mapping IRQs since at least 2016, for example. And I think Intel's VT-d has had it since 2012 (or perhaps even longer?)

I'm running two gaming machines and one server on a single 14-core esxi. It works, but that was a really painful USB and GPU exercise.

What would, and it's ironic to state this, be nuts, would be a very simple yet snappy windows version for people to play around with VS what currently sadly just make school laptops slughish while you try to square a circle that is using Vm's on a pc. Where the normal os is bloated, simulating a bloated os over again. I knpw cause we had to years back. Linux got that going for them.

While I am legitimately curious about what Michael J. Fox has to contribute about VMs and computer science, I am extremely weary of it just being a ghost-written bullshit script about perseverance and dealing with seemingly insurmountable issues and all praise helix, I mean VMware.

meh. virtual always feels like renting. I like my spinning rust. I like owning.

Not that it matters but I've concluded that, at least for myself (a small time nobody), virtualisation creates more problems than just buying more hardware.
