Great video on physical therapy
Definitely agree on knowing who your PT is before surgery. I had a good one until he helped his wife who is another PT open up her own business. She was not comfortable with him working on me. Very disappointing for sure

The Docs look at it from a medical procedure point of view. You see it from a Physios point of view.. Both point of views are valid. Individuals should listen and take heed of what their body is telling them, ie: pain, stiffness and swelling and strength or lack of. Returning to work early would solely depend on the type of work and if it poses hazzards to your recovery.

Thank you for your great comments and taking time to recognize the work done by Talking with Docs. I came to the same conclusion. I started looking at YouTube guides on TKR about a week ago. It was obvious that both Your Channel and talking with docs are head and shoulders above the rest. You both give real world advice and practical info. Both are written by medical professionals that see lots of patients and is not written by lawyers and boring hospital administrators looking to simply reduce liability. (I am a lawyer and can easily recognize self-serving BS). Thank you for your channel, unbiased counsel. I am seven days from my tkr. Between your guides and talking with Docs, I have learned so much. Thanks!

I went back to work (sitting all day, working from home) after 8 weeks and in hindsight I wish I'd taken a few more weeks of leave. My energy level was back at 8 weeks, but my knee progress really stalled when I started sitting long periods of time. I missed having time to go to the gym twice a day like I could during the weeks before.

Tony, I wished you had a video on 90 days pre-op surgery. Step by Step .
That would greatly be helpful.
I have been watching the "talking with docs" for the last 4 years.
I watch a variety of Youtube Channels.

My surgeon, my hospitality, in-hospital PT all told me to take pain med 1 hour before therapy. My physical therapist told me NOT to take them because I will “get addicted.” I picked this one because it’s easier for my driver - but I feel like I’ve made a big mistake. 1 week out and I’m at 3° and 108° so I think I’m doing well, but he makes me feel like I’m a loser.

Hi Tony, I really appreciate your channel I found you after my 2nd TKR thank you for all your advice. I got those pedals and they made a big difference in my recovery. Talking with Docs is a channel I also follow, they are in my area and speak of things that effect me as a Canadian. I have been off for almost 6 months as I did with my first surgery. Here we have 15 weeks of sick unemployment benefits, I am a nurse in long term care and have a physically demanding job. I love my job but the thought of being on my feet for 12 hour shifts was going to be to much so along with the 12 weeks I had 8 weeks paid sick time and 7 weeks paid vacation. I probably could have gone back at the 5 month mark and functioned just fine but I’m finishing up vacation time. I suppose if I didn’t have such a physically demanding job I could have gone back after 15 weeks.
I still watch your videos and find myself pulling out my slide board afterwards, thank you for still being a motivator for all of us post op and beyond. Merry Christmas to you and your family and Tucker🐶
