For better and for worse, there's been a lot of press surrounding the latest movie from one of the greatest directors of all time, Francis Ford Coppola. Now that his first movie in thirteen years has been released, what do I think of it? Find out in my review for "MEGALOPOLIS" starring Adam Driver, Giancarlo Esposito, Nathalie Emmanuel, Aubrey Plaza, Shia LaBeouf, Jon Voight, Laurence Fishburne, Kathryn Hunter, Dustin Hoffman, directed by Francis Ford Coppola

Your review summed up my feelings exactly. I saw it on a screen in Texas with 10 people attending. 5 of them left about a 30 minutes into the film. As you say, not for everyone. Glad I saw it given who made it. Excellent review!

Great job... If I am still around I would like to see what people are saying in 10 years.

I have said some nice things about Coppola and the ambition of this movie elsewhere but I want to just list a few things that really do not make sense for me. 1) How is a relatively small real estate project in the middle of New Rome going to change the future of humanity? 2) And a high-tech real-estate Disneyland like this is likely only going to be available to the very rich to live in. How does that fix anything? It reminds me of Musk claiming he's gonna fly rich people to Mars and make a new world. It's absurd and tiresome. 3) The whole idea that Ceasar is the one to save humanity and therefore must get shot in the face is really, really weak. 4) The whole plot point about the Vestal Virgin and then she's not really a virgin and she's not really sexually tied to Ceasar it's just kind of a waste of the storie's time. 5) I think Megalopolis is best appreciated as its own kind of fever dream of the early 21st-century, it certainly has value but for me only in that context.6) Finally, I agree with your comment about the VoiceOver. I'm not a person who believes narration is a bad thing inherently in movies, but this example was extremely tedious. The main take away from me about Megalopolis was my incredible disappointment that so few people bothered to go see it. There's so little curiosity and there's that little tolerance for something that's a little bit different in the modern audience. It seems like the "Cinephile" audience is microscopic now. It's like the groundhog seeing his shadow and going back into his hole. Expect another three decades of reboots, sequels, genre and lavish devotion to intellectual property brands. With Megalopolis, the audience told Hollywood very loudly what it likes, and it's not anything slightly different or that they have to think about. :(

I may see Megalopolis eventually. I tried watching Bram Stroker's Dracula twice. Jack was fine, I seen it a few times.

I'm a fan of Francis Ford Coppola as a filmmaker but I was actually pretty interested but Jack is his worst film and still haven't seen the last of his films he haven't seen yet.

Do you think Megalopolis earns its R Rating.

R u seeing Joker 2 soon? I'm sure you're not really looking forward to it given that you don't like the first movie and the even more divisive reaction to this one.
