After a quarterfinal run in Australia and winning in Tokyo, I think this very next match maybe hurt Hingis. So many grueling rallies. Out in the next round. Not winning more than one match before losing the next in the 4 tournaments to follow (except Indian Wells where she won 2 matches). And eventually injured into a 6 week break during the clay court swing. She would never recover, with similar results in the second half of the tennis season and an eventual second retirement. A pity we didn’t have more. But as luck would have it, she’d come back professionally in 2013 to dazzle fans and the tennis world again, this time in doubles and mixed. Thanks for everything Martina! ✨❤ 🎾 ❤️✨

I didn't realize for a while that they were wearing the opposite outfit in the final set because their form, movement and ball trajectory were so similar.
