It's created to portray the inter-workings of Alois' mind. This is -his- "wonderland". Each part of this reveals his state of mind, and the complicated web that weaves through his brain. The hatter is respectively, all of the people who betray him, fool him, or harm him, including himself. The Cheshire is those in his life that seek for his good will, like Luca and Hannah. And The Red Queen represents how everyone has power over him, and how he's easily tricked.
