Sometimes I despair about the state of the music we hear these days compared to my youth (60s & 70s), then I come across a genius like this.
Warms my heart!

this is my favorite version of his classic song....that banjo player guy is one of his newer musicians and i can tell he is like a soul brother....he really adds a nice touch to his songs

remember when our songs were just like prayers.
like gospel hymns that you called in the air.
come down come down sweet reverence,
unto my simple house and ring…
and ring.

ring like silver, ring like gold
ring out those ghosts on the ohio
ring like clear day wedding bells
were we the belly of the beast or the sword that fell…we’ll never tell.

come to me clear and cold on some sea
watch the world spinning waves..like some machine

now i’ve been crazy couldn’t you tell
i threw stones at the stars, but the whole sky fell
now i’m covered up in straw, belly up on the table
well and sang and drank, and passed in the stable.

that tall grass grows high and brown,
well i dragged you straight in the muddy ground
and you sent me back to where i roam
well i cursed and i cried, but now i know…now i know

and i ran back to that hollow again
the moon was just a sliver back then
and i ached for my heart like some tin man
when it came oh it beat and it boiled and it rang..it’s ringing

ring like crazy, ring like hell
turn me back into that wild haired gale
ring like silver, ring like gold
turn these diamonds straight back into coal.

Kaylan, TY so much for introducing me to the music of GAI. I know you love horses, so I'm sure you love this song too. I miss you. Matt (in Iowa).

Found this randomly on YouTube Music. Such a great piece. So simple. Sometimes less is more.

Three exceptionally talented American musicians - each in their own right - making a great song yet better. Fantastic rendition for a pick-up session guys, I'm in awe. Respect from Australia's Northern Territory..

Is this an acceptable choice for a wedding song? It's so lovely, but bittersweet.

This song takes me home to a place I loved so long ago, a boat trip around Brownsea island in Poole harbour Dorset.Days of memories happy times, warm summer says fishing off the quay with my late Grandmother. Miss these times so much, bad decision to move North many years ago to the wretched Midlands!
