I love Kathleen Lights and I'm sure she has no control over timing of launches but I thought it was very ill timed of CP to do that big launch right over top of thatgirlshaexo and mesijesi. They deserved a better launch than they got.

Remember when stila had paper packaging and everyone bitched about? They were ahead of their time.

I love KL but if I see another eyeshadow palette collab from anyone I’m gonna scream 😑

I would rather support Wet n Wild than James Charles. Wet n Wild has been around forever and has created so many products and has been known to dupe a lot of high end products which is what their appeal is. James is a loud mouth troublemaker with no noticeable values at all. Its also called business and everything is copied by everyone, its just the quality of the brand that makes it different.

I'm not mad but annoyed, my mother is half Cherokee so this is my culture. While the video is done with a real dancer, and themed well which I appreciate. I don't like the name sauvage attached to it.

I think that Dior knew exactly what they were doing when they named their perfume Sauvage and then used indigenous people in the US to promote it.
Dior is a French company, and it’s the French colonialists who called the indigenous peoples of New France (Historically, now Québec) “les Sauvages”. It’s a part of indigenous colonialism that is specifically related to French-speaking North America indigenous peoples, including the Métis cultures, the majority of which live in Canada. Using US indigenous consultants, who were obviously ignorant to the implications this perfume name has to French-speaking indigenous peoples, for the ad campaign was strategic and underhanded. Shame on you Dior!
PS: I am not indigenous. I am French Canadian. I live in Canada. I want better things for our indigenous peoples. This isn’t it. So I’m speaking up.

I bought the So Jaded palette the MINUTE it came out. I mean the entire palette from the packaging to the shades look GORGEOUS.

I think the fragrance could have been a success if three things were to have happened: 1. Not named the fragrance Sauvage. 2. Hire Native people to film, produce, act and consult in the film. 3. Have the profits benefit Native causes. I just don't get how anyone thought a fragrance named Sauvage should use Native imagery.

I grew up in New Mexico and the Natives are so under represented. Their culture is so beautiful and has so many wonderful traditions.

I’m an anthropologist, the word Dior used for their perfume has been used for hundreds of years in a racist connotation. It was also used by scientists to contextualized cultures “evolving” from savage to civilized. It was used to excuse slavery and colonialism. Because of my profession I’m very sensitive to the use of that word, which is 100% taboo in academic settings! I don’t have a problem with using a native culture as part of some (well constructed) campaign, preferably hiring indigenous professionals, but that word! Ugh. They lost me. Even a basic google search would show you how problematic that term is....

Why are collabs almost always eyeshadow palettes? Most of us have more eyeshadows than one person could ever need.

It’s kind of obvious that these days your not going to get a good response if you use a specific culture to advertise your product. Won’t work out.

Thank you for covering important issues like the Dior/Savage thing, the Amazon fires, and the Trump support stuff. While makeup is a fun hobby, it also crosses into some really important issues and I’m glad to see you cover them in this series.

The original Dior Eau Sauvage was a unisex fragrance released in 1968. This version with Johnny Depp was released in 2015, and being re-promoted now. I’m so glad I didn’t buy it.

The fact that they thought that SAUVAGE was ok is so ignorant! As a french canadian it offended me deeply because it such an insensitive word and related to so much damage done to native communities . I don’t understand why they did this. It is shameful.

I love Shae dearly, but those two Colourpop collections are the most boring things I've ever seen. One, they're too similar to one another, and two, how does a bee themed collection not have a honey gold shadow?!

I'm full blood native American and I'm totally not offended by the sauvage ad. I agree it provides a positive platform for native Americans especially with Johnny Depp at the forefront.

Personally!!!! $125 for a pallet is ridiculous and borderline price gouging!
