Live at Portland's Mississippi Studios, Peter Buck of R.E.M. joined Eyelids to play songs off their upcoming LP, 'A Colossal Waste Of Light', which he produced as well.

They ended with them all playing two early songs by R.E.M. originally released in 82/83. Gardening At Night is from 82's 'Chronic Town' and Radio Free Europe from 83's 'Murmur'. Both songs had not been played by a R.E.M. member since it was last played in 2008.

Eyelids are made up of members of Guided By Voices, The Decemberists, Camper Van Beethoven, Malkmus/Jicks, and Elliott Smith's band. This will be their 17th vinyl release in 8 years.

I lived in Portland for 5 years. Peter Buck lives there and occasionally drops in on gigs like this. Definitely one of the cooler aspects of the place. Also, Mississippi Studios is a great venue. It's pretty damn tiny to have hosted this. But that's how it is there. I saw him play with the Minus Five in a literal local bar. I think it was on Belmont.

I see Sheply, Peter and Jen up front. I was just to the right. I was dancing. It annoyed some people. Small place...

Dude up front must have a sore neck from all that nodding. Why don’t people dance at shows anymore?

Interesting they have three guitars when Peter held down this down by himself in the glory days.
