Agustin Ramirez: 2023 Season Highlights

🎙️Agustin Ramirez was one of my favorite players to watch this season! And he put himself on the map in a big way.

Agustin had an awesome season in 2022 at the FCL, so there were some expectations coming into this season. He started a bit slow at Tampa, which I chalked up to a platoon situation and not getting the same playing time he got the previous year.

Everything changed once he was promoted to Hudson Valley. At HV with his role as the primary catcher set, Ramirez took off! There he slashed .384/.430/.714, an OPS of 1.144. He slugged 19 XBH, 9 HR and 23 RBI and was named the July Player of The Month at the South Atlantic League (SAL)! He also threw out 32% of base runners. Soon after he was promoted to Somerset where he ended his season.

Ramirez played 80 games and almost 700 innings, which is more games and innings than all his previous years combined.

On the whole, Ramirez had a really good year:
.271/.364/.455 | .819 OPS | 42 XBH - 18 HR, 69 RBI | 12 SB | 12.4 BB% - 17.3 K% | 123 wRC+ | 21% CS%

On the defensive side, Agus caught more games than he ever has and he saw his FLD% go from .976 to .991 and he threw out 21% of runners. He posted positive FrmR and CSAA numbers, showing he was an adequate receptor.

There’s alot to be hopeful for with Ramirez going into 2024 and I could see him become a Top 10 Prospect for the major Prospect Rank sites come Spring Training.
