Interview Tips for New Grad Nurses: “Why are you interested in working here?”
This is a question that you’ll likely be asked as you interview for positions, and the TOP TIP is to tailor your answers to that actual facility. Be sure to ask yourself this question before applying. “Why DO I want to work here?”
⭐Do your research on the facilities you’re interested in
Read their mission statement, the healthcare system it’s connected with, read reviews, and learn about the setting. If it’s well-known for excellent care, a Magnet-Recognized hospital, or Plaintree Recognized, you want to consider these and how they match with your own values!
More thoughts to consider:
⭐Think about your own goals and how they match with the hospital’s offer
Is there a possibility for continuing education, tuition reimbursement, CEUs, clinical ladder advancement, and more.
⭐Learn about the resources
What length of time is provided for orientation? Is there a new grad residency program you can apply for? What resources are available on each shift? AKA is it a small hospital with one or two in-house providers, or will you have a huge number of resources no matter the time of day?
New grad nurses, have you started applying for jobs yet?

My name is Kristine and I survived nursing school…and you can too!
Nurse In The Making was inspired during my time in nursing school. I immediately struggled and decided to create my own study guides. These guides have helped me personally as well as many others make nursing school just a little more manageable.I hope you find comfort knowing that everyone struggles at times. Nursing school is emotionally and physically draining. I hope these informative, clean, and simple guides help you navigate through all the information because there is A LOT of it in nursing school.
Happy Studying Future Nurses. Don't forget to enjoy the journey!
