For anyone wondering, the price for the R2514 version is $625. To put that in perspective, you can buy a 256GB Steam Deck and still have $100 left over.

You literally wrote “Steam Deck OS” in the title and the first thing you said is “it doesn’t run SteamDeck OS” What is wrong with you? Chimera is a completely different Linux Operating System that has nothing to do with SteamOS anymore than Window’s GamePadUI does.

DFI? They were a force in gaming motherboards 20 years ago... The dfi lanparty was very popular in the 2000's

Can you please stop calling chimeraOS "steamOS" because thats not what it is, it has a lot of differences from the real steamOS and I know some people might not have a problem with it but thats like calling "linux mint" "ubuntu linux" like yeah its built on it, but thats not what it is. They are named differently for a reason.

With this being Zen+ based, and basically a lower clocked Ryzen 5 3500U, it would be nice to get the 11CU version of this chip, though i dont know if they made an embedded version that wasnt for laptops so maybe they could find some Ryzen 7 3700u chips somewhere
Also 8GB of RAM is nowhere near enough to fullfill the capabilities of an APU with this many cores and CUs, i would think 12GB to be the minimum(assuming all chips are equal capacity, but really i'd want 16-32GB for my use.
The LPDDR4 chips arent that expensive, especially since the Zen+ chips really cannot hit those higher speeds found on the expensive chips, Zen2 and 3 APUs can(i have my 5700G with 4933C17-17-17-30 desktop RAM in gear1 CR1), but not Zen+ Zen+ sort of tops out at 3800 with LPDDR4, and maybe only 3400 with desktop DDR4

To repeat everyone else, the Chimera OS in the image is nice, but also change Steam Deck OS to big picture or gaming mode as to not trigger *that* part of the community.

Let's be real. This is for actual embedded use. You cna get a much more performance minisforum for the money with proper rdna2/3 gpus

DFI always sells their stuff priced as though its made of solid gold, so this video is as far as the fascination is going to go.

these all in one boards are pretty interesting, I hope more stuff gets released in these tiny form factors as time goes on. I just saw Asrock released their new 7840u 4x4 board as well, those are pretty neat looking too

I wonder if someone can use this, 3D Print a shell, get a 7"-10" screen, a battery, a controller and make a Custom-SteamDeck? May end up costing more than just buying a SteamDeck or Ally outright, but building your own with one of these boards could be fun.

I miss DFI, their LanParty motherboards were great.

I love the idea and form factor, but the price kills it for me. At 250 I'd use this for my micro sleeper PCs though!

What is the price? $ You put so much effort into making a great video but you always forget to mention the price $ with the specs.

Technically you can add more ram but you need soldering skills to do it

Nice clickbait, prime. Chimera is not steamos.

At some point people will stop following you if you keep being a toy for companies. You know no one from your followers can buy this board and you know even if its for sale its a terrible value so why you didn't refuse the company request?

I'd love to see if soldering on larger memory chips drastically improves the performance of the board. Of course, you'd probably need to mod the BIOS, but that has been done on the Steam Deck already, so it's at least possible.
