I don't think Colbie is a hypocrite cuz of the makeup she is wearing or the clothes she is in this video! In no way is this song shaming girls who put makeup on or whatever. It's letting girls know it's okay to not want the glitz and glam, and that simplicity is okay. Also that at the end of the day when all the makeup and brand clothes come off, you should still love yourself because beneath everything you are still beautiful regardless of the makeup and clothes and etc.

The message is 'you don't HAVE TO try' not 'you SHOULDN'T try'. This message is telling everyone that they are not what they look like or what they wear. You could wear no makeup and wear old, worn out, cheap clothes, and be perfect, because that's how you feel comfortable, then some people feel comfortable with loads of makeup and expensive clothes.
No song is literal. They use metaphors all the time, strop trying so hard to find something to critique her on.

Amazing I sing this at my two grandfather's funeral everybody cried when I sing this when I turn this song on they cried even when I sing it they still cry then they take off the makeup put on normal dress and said "you don't have to try so hard you don't to change a single thing just be yourself!" I love this song I think what shes saying in the first couple of verses is what everyone tells themselves. "We have to keep this up so people will like us." The last verse is her telling everyone that they should stop trying to please others as long as we love ourselves. Can't believe some people though...

Who freaking cares if she has makeup on? Seriously, stop calling her a hypocrite because we all are. Do you think they would be let her perform without makeup? The music industry is too concerned about their image. Just listen to the lyrics not the image. It's for inspiration purposes. It's a touching song.
