I bought the Cheapest 1um Mill DRO on Aliexpress

I bought the cheapest 1um resolution DRO I could find on Aliexpress for my mill.

I paid approx £176 (US$243, EUR204 - at time of checking).
These appear to have a 1um resolution, but once i have fitted these to my mill, I will make some more accurate measurements. I would imagine the accuracy is more like 5um - stay tuned to find out!

These are great, I’ve just fitted one to my old Sealey lathe, that’s a lot of bang for your buck!

I don’t know about the cheapest, but I bought a ToAuto version on eBay (here in the USA). It was the standard display for just x and y. The only crappy thing was the ARM mount, which was flimsy. I made a much better one. I replaced the standard box from them with the touchscreen version. It has x, y, z. I bought an 8” for the z six, which I had to modify to get it to fit.

I’ve had this for over a year, and use it extensively. It’s quite good. Accurate, as checked by my Interrapid tenths indicator, and other methods. They were 5um though. I replaced then with the 1um versions recently. No problem. Again, quite accurate. 1um is .000039”, or 0.001mm. In order to use the tenths place on the DRO, the 1um is really needed, or anything below 0.001”, or 0.01mm isn’t going to be usable.

I highly recommend ToAuto. Their manuals are in English and they have a site you can go to for videos showing how to use their products, including the setup.

Looks very much like that of mine although mine is 5 um. Suggest to clean the inside of the scale. Mine has quite some dust inside.
