Since I've put in over 700 hours into Symmetra it's about time I put together a little guide for her. I hope you guys enjoy this one and learn a few things along the way!

This is a great video! Amazing guide if you are trying to learn Symm. Dan's simply one of the best Symms!

Reinhardt: *uses shield*

Symmetra: Delectable.

As a Sym main, this makes me so happy looking at the comment section and not seeing hate, and watching someone so passionate with Sym teach others, we don’t just camp

I could watch McCree get lasered by turrets in different configurations under Eichenwald's bridge all day long. Thank you for that montage!

Man, this really made me wanna start playing Sym again. She was my most-played DPS (support at the time) back in the day, but I haven't really touched her since her big rework. I'm intimidated. lol. Great informative video!

I've heard that if you say 'bzzt' while using her beam, it charges faster ;)

On a serious note, I didn't know that using the beam against shields recharges her 'ammo'. That explains why I've seen so many symms go full-beam against a zarya bubble lmao.

So, I'm a Diamond Sym main and I've had notion of all of this but I never knew how to organize this information in my head, now it's a whole lot clearer to understand Sym! Thank you so much for the video!

I love symm, and I love you dude! Good Guide. I end up not thinking a lot about the tp and using it to the full potential and having it stay near spawn for a faster recall time for the team because everyone asks me to do it, when in reality it's more useful for making flashy moves and getting kills using tp bomb or helping the team get to other places etc. Thanks, from another Symm main!

From another 700 hour Symmetra, a few technical and educational comments:
1. Do refer to primary fire/secondary fire (instead of "left and right clicks") and abilities 1 and 2 (and 3=ultimate) on educational videos. These are the in-game terminologies and also carry over to console players so they benefit too.
2. Shields ≠ barriers. Symmetra has shields as health and a barrier as an ultimate – she regains ammo by shooting her beam at barriers (not shields – which could very well be a mechanic itself but isn't). She loses barriers *and* shields if EMP'd. (In a group where people know how others communicate, it is of course alright and common to *describe* for example Reinhardt's barrier as a shield for its tactical purpose. But again, being precise in educational content. :))
3. A random thing to mention is that the internal cooldown between subsequent teleportations is also exactly(?) one second, and you can simply hold down the Use button (no need to tap multiple times) to pop in and out repeatedly.
4. You missed a couple of interaction between sentries and the teleporter, which I'll incorporate into this categorisation of mine about TP usage:

Main category: sentries
a) TP-bombing (your hint about putting down two sentries, then tp and then the third one was excellent; I'll just add that it's better to put down all three first if you have time to spare and are probably going to wait for a good target/engagement – this way you have slightly better chances of regaining more sentries back from cooldowns by the time you've done with the bombing). Subtypes/variations: i) flank (put behind enemies for surprise) i) attack support (send them in with yourself/teammates) iii) my favourite, finishers AKA "sending a gift for that sleeping Widowmaker")

b) Advanced geometry: sentries (or actually anything and anyone being teleported) retain their momentum vector in relation to the map coordinates (unlike in Portal), so whichever direction you send the sentries, when they pass through the teleporter, they keep flying in the original direction, now just translated somewhere else. This makes a great number of new sentry positions possible. If one for example wants to keep defensive high ground on Gibraltar point 1 but want to also trap either of the small rooms downstairs on the left/right with a healthpack and stairs, you don't need to jump down: just put a tp there and send sentries in facing the tp in such a way that the sentries end up on the wall or ceiling you want. It is also possible to send sentries in an upward direction by crouching next to the tp and aiming for its highest parts.

c) Sentry retrieval: 10 seconds per sentry is a long time, half a minute for a full pack is much longer. After a successive tp bomb or a misfire/bad aim, it might be useful to sometimes get your surviving babies back to you so you don't have to build the next bomb all from scratch gain.

Main category: teammates
a) Moving teammates around.
Subtypes/variations: i) bypass choke ii) alternate retreat route iii) push faster/shorten distances iv) flank (single Bastion or whole team) iv) give mobility to heroes/let them go new places (Ana on top of the not-windmill building on Ilios Well is cool.) v) deny enemy ults

b) Ability synergies. (Important note is that technically it is character-like objects which can be teleported: this is why MEKA, RIP-tire and Torbjörn's turrets go through but a translocator or trap doesn't. Might feel quite arbitrary to the player, though.)
Subtypes/variations: i) Ultimate mobility (that Self-destruct etc. ...) ii) regular mobility, just teleported (Rein charge from out of nowhere; one can teleport mid-charge; sometimes also as the pinned one) iii) open up new locations for abilities (teleport Torb's turret)

Not sure if I missed any category.

Thank you for this guide. As a sym main, I was struggling to find use's for her teleporter and her turrets. This helps a lot as I have a friend that mains bastion. We play every weekend, and this guide will help me use my teleporter frequently, and use it for different ways. Anyway- I just wanna say thank you for this guide, and ur probably one of the best syms out there.

1:30 Fun Fact the inner ring will only be visible with specific crosshair choice.
So here is my alternate suggestion:
"When the ammo depletes by 9, it will be fully charged"
Or
"When the top part of the head hits 9 O' Clock, Fire"
No seriously, look at it like a clock starting at High Noon. Watch the clock strike NINE, for the shot.
Wow.. McCree has High Noon, Ash has 8:08, and Symmetra has 9 O' Clock

I also use the shield to capture points - by capturing a small corner for a contested zone, then drop my turrets (and myself behind the shield) This way we're in overtime, it'll give my team mates a few seconds to catch up and prevent the full capture.
