Here's another point I forgot to mention - according to the Pixar fan wiki, in the Disney on Ice play "The Incredibles in a Magic Kingdom Adventure", Edna makes a comment about how ridiculous Syndrome's "homemade" super suit is. You could totally also interpret this as a point against Edna designing Syndrome's outfit, but on the other hand, Edna describes Bob's old outfit as a "hobo suit", so could she just be viewing her past work as trash? What do you think?

Hope you all enjoyed this week's episode and I hope everyone's start to 2018 was awesome!

Personally? I'm more of a trench coat kind of guy. Modified civilian clothing always makes for good superhero outfits, and coats still match the overall aesthetic of a cape while being far more practical.

Darkwing Duck fans know that capes can save your life! They just need to be detachable & have a teflon coating.

Aside from the practical aspects, I'd always figured that the *NO CAPES* joke was a nod to the fact that in the 60s/Silver Age capes were becoming less common than they were in Golden Age comics. Spider Man, Green Lantern and especially the Fantastic Four were all very popular capeless heroes in the 60s.

Maybe he already made a costume and came to Edna to ask for her opinion
Since she senses he was evil she never told him anything about the cape

There is a theory that Syndrome was working with the Government in the movie, so that gives one reason as to why Edna may have been the one to have made the suit itself (cape included), which Syndrome could have then modified and upgraded.

Just realized that the bomb on Buddy's cape should've been a clue that foreshadows his end in the movie...this makes me wish i could see the movie all over again

I first herd this theory on Super Carlin Brothers

I think Syndrome made his suit. He's a fanboy. I've been to a convention where a guy was dressed up like Manthing and I could have swore it came out of the comicbook. I also think Syndrome is tech smart, but not so observant. He didn't even know Mr. Incredible had kids with Elistagirl. Edna has great fashion sense, and I agree with her about capes. But I don't think she ever met Syndrome.

I'd have a cape just make it a detachable one with like safety clasps or something

She may have met syndrome at a different time before he found bob in order to test his robot and he probably fed her some story about getting the supers to come out of hiding with his plan to fake a disaster with his robot. Since frozone and bob were still alive he probably didnt know where they were in hiding and got the info from Edna who probably hadn’t realized what he was doing before then. When she found out he was killing supers (they may have come to her for new suits too) she installed the defenses in her home to keep buddy out, she probably thought he was watching her. Bob got his new suit after a few run-in’s with buddy’srobot, since Edna made the incredible suit, when she saw the tear she was suspicious and knew he was dealing with buddy since the supers were outlawed. She may have seen the files on the supers suit malfunctions and figured out on her own the cape was probably the problem because buddy hacked the nsa and gave her the information before she realized he was murdering supers. When she sees bob again she knows what he’s up to and because she thinks she’s being watched simply keeps saying no capes because she knew the problem but never told syndrome. Syndrome never became suspicious because bobs super suit never had a cape and buddy wouldn’t have changed his mind about his cape because he thought he was smarter than everyone else including Edna.

I have an Edna theory, it may not by good but this is what I think. So I watched the Disney fashion video for the Incredibles and this thought came into my mind. Since the movie took place in the 60s and it looks like Edna is around her 50s she could be dead by the time this came out. I started thinking and thought, What if Edna was one of the first Supers? Now hear me out, Edna was at the Parrs wedding in the 50s, 15 years later she still looks the same and if we are talking about the video now and she’s still designing that would make 110 years old and still look the same. What if the reason she designed for supers was because she knew about indestructible fabrics and the government knew about her and signed her on. One of the easiest things the government might have been working on, is the power to never age. So I think they picked her to design the suits and and since she was might have wanted something out of it she could have gotten those powers. I also think that the government was planning on doing this for awhile if it wasn’t for all the trouble that happened and needed Edna for the job.

The argument against your personality argument:
Where the philosophy came from.
Many people deal with guilt and emotional stress by closing off from it, trying to find any way to get rid of their guilt (like, say, "never look(ing) back"), by completely locking out their emotions.
From that angle, your debunk is not necessarily accurate.

When it comes to capes, there are two types of heroes to keep in mind, the kind that are so powerful they don't need to worry about that, like superman, thor, and the specter, and the kind that incorporate the cape into their crime fighting style and easily ditch them when they become a detriment, like batman, doctor strange, and spawn.

Has anyone ever seen the video theory that Buddy's parents were actually Supers in a team with Gazerbeam? Because that would actually explain his use of a cape and why Edna made a suit for him

I was watching the Incredibles last night and I thought Edna was Immortal

In terms of recording causes of death, it would make sense they blame an outside force\failure rather than record potential weakness for any superhero, especially given how accessible "top secret" files are, and that's assuming they were aware of what might have caused any demise, it could be assumption of invulnerability and acknowledging human error, but not hero error.
