Morning Newswrap | Modi Wins Rafale Fight?; Setback For Congress ?

The Supreme Court has dismissed the four petitions seeking a court-monitored probe into the Rafale jet deal under which India will purchase 36 Rafale fighter jets in a ready-to-fly condition from French defence manufacturer Dassault Aviation. The four petitions seeking probe into the deal were filed by Prashant Bhushan, former Union ministers Arun Shourie and Yashwant Sinha, advocates ML Sharma and Vineet Dhanda, and Aam Aadmi Party MP Sanjay Singh. The Opposition has been accusing the Narendra Modi government of nepotism and corruption in the Rafale deal. It has been alleging that the Modi government compromised with the country's interest and favoured Anil Amabani's Reliance Defence by asking Dassault Aviation to make it an offset partner instead of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited.
