Показать описание
A legend (dated from the Edo period) tells the story of the brave boy who was born of a giant peach, found in the river by an old woman who washes clothes in the river. Momotaro became a brave and fearless boy and did not like to know that his village was being sacked by the terrible Demons. He decided to go in search of justice, before leaving his parents gave him the “kibidangos” (Japanese dumpling) made of mochiko (rice flour), for Momotaro to take on the trip and that would give him the strength of a hundred men. He meets three inseparable friends along the way (a dog, a monkey and a pheasant) and together they face a long journey “Onigashima” (Island of Demons) determined to fight the Terrible ONIS, the demons. His friends also eat the muffin and everyone has become strong, brave and fearless, defeating all the Onis and returning home with the treasures of the Onis. The treasure he had brought home with him was distributed among the villagers and their old parents, and allowed them to live in peace until the end of their days.
