Oh my god can't believe you made a video like this! Just what I needed! Thanks to all of you at Mobiletechreview for the quality content :D

Just a note, the D in SSD stands for drive, so when you say "SSD Drive" it is sort of repetitive... Just a small thing, but it sounds sort of odd when you're aware of what SSD stands for.

We decided against a Vaio T vs. S smackdown since the machines are really in different performance classes. The T is an Ultrabook and is good for MS Office/web/email/casual - light gaming. The S has the horsepower and features (switchable graphics, optical drive, replacable parts) of a standard notebook.

Would love to but we don't have the 2012 MacBook Pro in house. The Vaio S would certainly have a few strong points vs the 13" since it has switchable dedicated graphics and weighs a bit less.

Yes, yes and yes. The S 15.5 with the quad core i7 and 640M is a very powerful machine that can handle pretty much anything well.

I'd just like to mention that the GT640le in the Vaio S will overclock to the same level as a GT650 quite comfortably, and it's very easy to do. You can comfortably break 2200 points in 3dmark11 with the i7 version, compared to around 1400 stock on the same machine.

Price wise, the Vizio wipes the floor with the Vaio S. While there is no optical drive, you can purchase an external blu-ray drive for around $100. Sony forces you to upgrade to Windows Professional to get the fresh start, while the Vizio has this at no extra charge. Are you getting the Vizio in any time soon? Sony has been a long time contender in the laptop market, but the Vizio has a price that I can't refuse... I would love a comparison!

Is it true the Sony Vaio Z has been discontinued?

how's the build quality of the vaio S? It looks solid, with the magnesium alloy construction, but the way the lid bends is really discerning.

Oh wow that's cool to know. I'm actually waiting for the shipping on my machine and I did opt for the i7 over i5.

VAIO S has problems with color red reproduction. It's powerful and can handle the rendering side of things, but you will want to use an external monitor. Most vendors will refresh their lines when Intel's new CPUs are released in June, so if you can wait until then we can see if Sony fixes the problem in their next refresh.

Alright cool! Should I get one customized? If so what should I customize?

but you said on the video that the S only has dual-core while the z version has quad core... if it does not have quad core, do you think it will get upgraded to include it in the near future?

CFRP is carbon fiber reinforced plastic, yes. I'm not sure why that's a negative. There are many different types of plastic, there's grocery bag plastic and there's LEGO brick plastic, and beyond. The military uses plastic. Plastic is a very durable and tough material. Carbon fiber is an ever more durable and tougher material, without the added weight of metal.

So which one should I purchase? I really like the full 1080p HD and I'm a video editor.

The Vaio Z has almost full rgb color gamut? Thats amazing! How much does S exactly have when compared to it? If it has above ninety percent, im buying the Vaio S 15 without any doubt. Lisa can you please tell me the color gamut of the Vaio S?
